Additional information

Kardo Karon specializes in resolving disputes out of court and in court. Kardo Karon’s main areas of work are family law and insurance law.

Kardo Karon is also included in the official list of mediators of the Estonian Bar Association and is a mediator with long-term experience in insurance disputes.

Attorney at law Kardo Karon has focused on family law and proceedings where a minor is a party to the proceedings as one of his main areas of activity. His work is mainly expressed in participating in various disputes concerning family law, where as a rule the content of the disputes has been custody and contact arrangements and the appointment of guardianship.

From all of the above, Attorney at law Kardo Karon has gained a good overview and understanding of what the legal knowledge of parents in family law in particular is in general, and since parents often cannot even distinguish between contact arrangements and custody, Kardo Karon created his own training series “The Legal Side of Parenthood”. The training is intended primarily for parents, but life has shown that there have always been a fair number of child protection workers and family mediators among the participants. The training provides an overview of the regulation of maintenance, custody rights, contact arrangements and how the legal proceedings on these topics work. The training was launched in 2022.

Kardo Karon has also been a trainer since autumn 2023 in the training “Legal foundations of child protection work” organized by the Social Insurance Board.

The trainings are 2-days and provide a comprehensive legal overview of the position and role of a child protection worker in helping children in and out of court. In addition, Kardo Karon has trained child protection workers from various local governments with the aim of teaching child protection workers to better represent children in court proceedings. Kardo Karon has also participated as an expert in the winning team of the Social Insurance Board’s 2024 procurement “Creating e-courses for child protection workers and specialists working with children” and Kardo Karon’s task was to create the legal content of the entire online training. As a result, attorney at Law Kardo Karon also has a good overview of the purpose of the training, what the audience is and what substantive resources the successful implementation of the entire training requires from both the trainer and the participants.
